Manager Recognized for Commitment to Excellence

Debbie Nelms and Red Kimball

Rocky Mount, N.C. – Debbie Nelms, AVP/loan operations manager at First Carolina State Bank, was the 2009 recipient of the Weldon “Red” Kimball Award, which is given each year to the bank employee whose hard work and dedication is judged by management to be exemplary.

“Debbie is deserving of this award because of her commitment to excellence,” said bank President/CEO Tim Taylor. “I appreciate her positive attitude and ability to motivate her staff even during the challenging times the bank experienced last year.”

The award is named for Red Kimball, a founding member of the bank’s board of directors. Kimball was vice president of sales for Kenan Transport from 1961-91 and continues his association with the company as a consultant.

An 18-year Rocky Mount banker, Nelms joined First Carolina State Bank in 2006. As loan operations manager, she is currently a member of the bank’s management team.

The annual award was established in 2007. The previous winners of the award were William Edgar, now CCO, in 2007 and J.R. Johnson, VP/retail banker, in 2008.
